Benefis Healthcare Foundation recently disbursed $7,740 from the Benefis Labor & Delivery fund to do some truly wonderful things to benefit new parents and babies in our community. See below:
• $3,005 to purchase a parent-education program from the National Center on Shaken Baby Syndrome. The program will help parents and caregivers understand the frustrating features of crying in normal infants that can lead to shaking or abuse.
• $2,325 for childbirth education materials to help educate parents about the birthing process.
• $2,410 to send a staff member to training for to become an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant for the purpose of starting a lactation program at Benefis Health System. New moms will benefit and the program should lead to an increase in successful breastfeeding rates.
